An IT handover makes sure nothing is lost when the person who looks after your technology leaves, whether they’re an employee, a contractor or a small IT firm. It covers finding out what they knew and did, moving the accounts and access they held into the business’s hands, writing it all down and keeping things running while you decide what comes next. It’s quickest while they’re still there to ask, but it can be done after they’ve gone.

When does this make sense?

01

Your IT person has handed in their notice.

They’ve looked after everything for years, and most of it is in their head. You have a few weeks to capture what they know.

02

They’ve already gone.

Someone left suddenly, or a supplier stopped answering. Nobody is sure who holds the admin access, what renews when or whether the backups work.

03

Your IT firm is closing.

The small firm that has looked after you for years is winding down. You need to move everything to someone new without losing anything.

04

Everything depends on one person.

Nobody has left yet, but one person holds all the knowledge. You want it written down before it becomes a problem.

What we take off your plate.

01

Access secured.

Admin accounts, domains and key systems moved into the business’s name, with access you control.

02

Everything written down.

Systems, suppliers, contracts, renewals and the routine jobs, in plain English, in one place.

03

The essentials checked.

Backups tested, renewals and licences confirmed, and anything out of support marked.

04

Business as usual.

The day-to-day jobs covered, by us or a provider we trust, so nothing is missed while you decide what comes next.

05

The right next step.

Whether to keep us on, hire, use an IT provider or a mix, and help with the brief, the interviews or the move.

How does it work?

  1. 01

    Secure

Access and the essentials first: admin accounts, domains, backups and renewals.

  2. 02

    Capture

Everything the person knew and did, written down while they can still be asked.

  3. 03

    Cover

The day-to-day jobs covered, so the business keeps running.

  4. 04

    Hand over

To a new hire or provider, with documentation they can work from.

Frequently asked questions.

They’ve already left. Is it too late?

No. It takes longer without them, but most of what they knew can be found from the systems, the suppliers and the invoices. We start with access and backups, because they carry the most risk.

Can you take over our IT permanently?

Yes, if that suits you. We can keep looking after things for as long as you need, with the day-to-day jobs covered by us or a provider we trust, and help you decide what comes next: a new hire, an IT provider or a mix.

What does it cost?

We agree the scope and price after a free 15-minute call, before any work starts. If someone has already left, say so when you book.
